Quotes
Performing The Queen’s Epicedium, an ornate funeral lament, Bostridge seemed to sing from his gut as he let the sliding melodies move his body in a kind of visceral dance.
-- Sophia Vastek, "Bostridge and friends deliver a memorable evening of Britten’s music,"New York Classical Review, October 21, 2013
Origin
Epicedium entered English in the late 1500s. It stems from the Greek word epikḗdeion, the noun form of an adjective meaning "of a funeral."
